How to rebuild Apache and PHP in WHM

  • At some point in time, you’ll probably need to recompile Apache and PHP. WHM provides with a tool called EasyApache which gives you freedom to customize every detail.
  • Go to Software>EasyApache.
  • It will check for updates first and then redirect you to user interface.
  • Choose the profile, click on build profile now of you’d like to go ahead and rebuild apache and PHP. Now, we are going to customize, so click on Start Customization based on profile.
  • Scroll down and select the Apache version and click on next step.
  • Now, select the main version of PHP, we will choose PHP 5. Click on Next Step.
  • Select the minor version of each PHP version and click on next step.
  • Enter all the settings or go on to Exhaustive Options list for more options.
  • Enter the options, and in the end, click on Save your profile without building it or on save and build to build your profile.
  • Confirm and proceed.
  • You will be notified of any necessary adjustments to your configuration, and then you will be automatically redirected to the build page.
  • If anything goes wrong, the entire build log will be save for troubleshooting.
  • Barring any unexpected errors or a server crash, the build process will continue in the background until finished. It can take an hour or two for the build to complete depending on the settings.
  • Now, choose the handler for each version, and click on Save New Configuration when done.
  • You will be shown the settings you chose and the generated php.conf file.
  • If you mis-configured anything, you can always come back and rebuild Apache or PHP.
