How to specify the hostname and IP to use for each of your nameservers in WHM

Description
  • Go to Server Configuration>Basic cPanel/ WHM Setup.
  • Scroll down, the list of nameservers will appear. There can be max of four but you should have at least two.
  • In order to set up a nameserver, you will need an IP address for each. Be sure to create hosts for the nameservers rather than just subdomains. Make sure that the main domain name is set to use the correct nameservers.
  • When you have all of them sorted, enter the nameservers’ hostnames in the columns. Now, you’ll need to assign an IP address to every nameserver hosted on this server. You should also add an A entry for the nameserver. Confirm that the IP is correct and click on Add Entry.
  • Repeat the process for the remaining three nameserver fields.
  • Scroll down and click on save. The changes are saved.
  • To assign an IP to a nameserver, enter it’s hostname in the field and click on assign when done.
  • The IP is assigned.
